Pet Dental Services

Your pet’s dental health is extremely important!
Veterinary dental care is about more than just preventing “doggy breath” – regular dental care can help prevent periodontal disease, which can lead to serious bacterial infections in your dog or cat’s liver, kidneys, and other organs. This bacterial shower can lead to permanent organ damage, affecting your pet’s overall health. A routine dental cleaning uses both ultrasonic and hand scaling to remove tartar and plaque from your pet’s teeth, followed by high-speed polishing and a fluoride treatment.

Your Pet’s Dental Cleaning
Getting your dog’s or cat’s teeth cleaned at the vet is a little different from your own dental cleaning. Pets need to be asleep (under anesthesia) for this, so before we start, we check your pet’s health with a full exam. We do blood tests to make sure they are safe for anesthesia. These tests also help us pick the safest way to keep your pet safe and comfortable during the cleaning. Once your pet is asleep, we use special equipment to clean their teeth above and below the gums, getting rid of all the plaque and tartar. After that, we polish the teeth so they’re smooth and less likely to get dirty as quickly again. If any teeth are too damaged, the vet will remove them to prevent pain or infection. At the end, we put on a fluoride treatment to make the teeth stronger and less sensitive.
Home Dental Care
Our team can teach you how to brush your pet’s teeth and use chews and supplements to help keep their teeth clean between vet visits. Taking care of your pet’s teeth at home helps stop plaque and tartar from building up, which keeps their mouth healthy and can prevent pain and disease.
